We had a chat with one of SURG's newer members; Therese Lindgren, about Exstream and her role as a System Developer at Lantmäteriet (the Swedish mapping, cadastral and land registration authority), where she works in the Development and IT department.

Hi there Therese, how do you work with Exstream at Lantmäteriet?

We use StreamServe/Exstream in our output management and receive material for distribution from different parts of Lantmäteriet. We’re a handful of people working with Streamserve/Exstream.

The first parts of the system were put into production in 2009, and more parts have been added over time, as more departments within Lantmäteriet have started sending information to the system. We forward the material to an external supplier who handles printing and dispatching to digital mailboxes.

What kind of documents do you handle?

At the moment we’re using StreamServe for outdata such as invoices, register extracts and decisions. But the system is growing and further on we will probably be looking at adding more streams where the output includes maps and big gifs.

What are the biggest challenges you see within our area at Lantmäteriet?

The main challenge is keeping up with lifecycle, developing what our businesses request and living up to what we need to do as an authority, all at the same time.

What are you working on right now? What’s up next for your team?

The next step is to continue upgrading from Streamserve 5.6.2 to Exstream and to make adjustments to keep complying to the web accessibility directive.
