Upgrading to Exstream

Swedish Bank and SURG-member Handelsbanken are on their way upgrading to Exstream. We called Peter Lundberg to hear how the upgrade is coming along.

Why Exstream, why now?
For us, it’s not an option to have unsupported software and of course we want to keep up.

What other pros are there?
I like the built-in version control. That makes it easier and safer for us who’s working with development since changes are logged automatically.

What was the plan?
Well, the plan was to launch last year, but we had some performance issues. We have worked with the upgrade along side everything else and now we are looking to start testing before the summer and then go live in autumn.

How many workhours have you put in?
The new metadata model gave us more work then I predicted. It’s a few hours work for each project. And we have a lot of projects. With identifying the differences, verifying and testing … maybe 200 hours.

What learnings can you share?
I wish someone had told me about the post processing changes, so now I’m telling you.
